Bakery Nouveau: Almond Croissant

There are a few things that not only meet your expectations, but exceed them.  Not only the first time around, but to your pleasant surprise, every time after that.  “Is it really as good as I think it is?”  *takes bite*  “Oh god, it really is.”  The Twice-Baked Almond Croissant at Bakery Nouveau is one of those things.

It is literally, the best almond croissant I’ve ever had.  Never a fan of almond flavor before (marzipan?  GROSS), this life-changing little pastry is now my go-to treat every time I visit Bakery Nouveau.  Husband and I usually split one – he likes the ends, I like the middle.  The proportion of almond cream to croissant, of sweet to buttery, of flaky to dense – it’s all just perfect.

We used to make a pilgrimage to West Seattle just for these croissants, but lucky us, they opened their 2nd location this past year 0.5 miles from the apartment.  I COULD EAT IT EVERYDAY.  But I won’t.  Though I’m sure it would still be just as amazing each and every time.

  1. I had heard people talk about the almond croissants at bakery nouveau and I remember that you wrote about them last winter (or some other time? dunno, awhile ago I guess) and I had wanted to try them for the longest time. WHen I finally made the drive over to West Seattle (omg so far) this summer I knew I had to try one and I was not disappointed. THEY ARE AMAZE.
